RBE Media Center
Rucker Boulevard Elementary’s Media Center supports the Alabama Course of Study, which serves as the basis of our school curriculum, and the Information Literacy Skills published by the American Association of School Librarians and the American Library Association.
Rucker Boulevard's Media Center believes the mission of the school library media program is to provide twenty-first century quality instruction that enriches, enhances, and supplements the grade level curriculums. This is done through positive collaboration with each grade level (1-6). This instruction should stimulate students' interests in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
Rucker Boulevard’s Media Center provides open access to all students and faculty. Atriuum, our automated management system, keeps track of our library collection through self (student) check in and check out.
Our Media Center’s collection consists of over 6,000 books, twenty-five networked Chromebooks (used for research, word processing, and in house book search), and thirty iPads. All handheld devices are available for class checkout to be utilized in conjunction with classroom lessons.
Students visit the library for classes bi-weekly for library lessons. Library checkout is is available for all students during open checkout times each day (7:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m and 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.). They are allowed to check out 2 books per visit. Students are encouraged to visit the Media Center as often as they like.
To view Rucker Boulevard's collection, check out OPAC where you can search our library for books!
